The Granite Bastion
Stoneculling (in Durûm Khaz-Kuldun, "the stone-speakers"), known also as The Granite Bastion, is the current capital of the dwarven realm. It rose to prominence after the tragic destruction of Emberdeep, its predecessor. Nestled within the heart of a formidable mountain range, Stoneculling is a testament to dwarven resilience and ingenuity. The city is carved directly into the mountainside, with vast halls and intricate tunnels illuminated by bioluminescent fungi and enchanted gemstones. High above lies the Grand Citadel, where the ruling council, the Stonecouncil (Khaz-Kuld), convenes under the leadership of its First, King Thrain Ironfist. The architecture of Stoneculling blends functionality with artistry; towering statues of ancestral heroes guard entrances while murals depicting epic battles adorn walls. The city's forges are legendary, producing weapons and armor unmatched in quality. Beneath its bustling markets and workshops lies an extensive network of catacombs that hold both ancient relics and secrets. Despite its grandeur, Stoneculling is a fortress at heart. Its defenses include reinforced gates, hidden traps, and battlements equipped with mana-tech artillery. The fall of Emberdeep has made its inhabitants ever vigilant against threats from both above and below ground. Cultural life in Stoneculling thrives amidst this vigilance. Festivals honoring craftsmanship, mining achievements, and ancestral spirits are common. Music resonates through taverns where tales of old are shared over hearty brews. In essence, Stoneculling stands as a beacon of hope and strength for all dwarves, a symbol that even in the face of great loss, they can carve out new beginnings from stone.
