Thranduil Leafsong is the leader of the Yugon Order, a revered order entrusted with guarding the sacred tree, Tengoku, and maintaining the spiritual sanctity of the holy city of Tenshū. As the oldest living elf on Kirijima, his role as Seishin (Holy Guardian) grants him immense respect from all inhabitants. Thranduil answers only to the Shogun, taking his duty as the protector of Tengoku with utmost seriousness.
Thranduil is known for his calm, controlled, and deeply introspective nature. He is incredibly wise and seemingly always has the right answer to any question, though his responses are often vague, leaving many to ponder their deeper meanings. His words carry great weight among those who hear them, and despite his reserved nature, every sentence he utters is considered significant.
Much of Thranduil's time is spent in deep meditation, with some of his sessions lasting for several months. During these periods, he disconnects from his duties as the leader of the Yugon Order, only emerging briefly before returning to his spiritual practice. Although he is a man of few words, the words he speaks are imbued with great importance, but his cryptic manner of speaking leaves many struggling to fully grasp his wisdom.
Due to his advanced age, Thranduil speaks an ancient dialect of both the Elvish and Kansai languages, which further complicates communication for those unfamiliar with these older forms of speech. Despite this, he is kind and patient, always willing to guide others in their spiritual endeavors. Many pilgrims who travel to the holy city seek his counsel, which he offers freely and without hesitation.
Despite his ancient age, Thranduil remains incredibly fit and muscular, with physical strength, speed, and endurance that rival much younger individuals. His long white hair and unusually long beard for an elf give him an appearance befitting his immense age.
Little is known about Thranduil’s combat style, though it is widely believed that he has mastered the techniques of the Yugon Monks to their fullest extent. It is rumored that he may have even established many of these techniques himself, making him an incredibly powerful and feared fighter, despite rarely being seen in combat.
Much like his fighting style, Thranduil’s abilities remain shrouded in mystery. He has rarely, if ever, been witnessed in a fight. However, it is assumed that he is capable of using Mana, given his immense spiritual and combat prowess.
Thranduil played a pivotal role in the Kegare Jidai (Age of Uncleanliness), a dark era in which Kirijima fought a devastating war against the demons. During this time, he was a close friend to Raizen Kuroda and fought valiantly alongside with him, against the demon forces. His immense skill in battle earned him the nickname "Black Light" or "Black Lightning," a name given by the demons themselves out of fear and respect. There are scattered reports suggesting that Thranduil may have been able to summon black lightning or a similar force in battle, though these descriptions remain vague and unconfirmed.
When the previous Raizen sacrificed himself in an ultimate spell to protect Kirijima, Thranduil was entrusted with the care of his disciple and the newly appointed Shogun, Emiko Amatsukami. He accepted this responsibility without hesitation, remaining a steadfast ally and protector. After the previous Shogun’s body was buried at the site where Tengoku now stands, Thranduil swore an oath to watch over the grave. Over the centuries, as the Tengoku tree grew from the resting place of the former Shogun, Thranduil established the Yugon Order and developed the Hachizenkō—the "Eight Sacred Lights," a combat style that the Yugon Order continue to use to this day.
